Biographyby Drago BonacichPanamanian Latin rock pioneer Océano self-produced its first album, released in March of 1984. 1987's Conga Rock followed, soon getting the group's song "El Derramo Su Amor Por Ti" climbing on local charts and becoming a major number in the local scene. In 1993, the band moved to the U.S. to record No Se Gana Pero Se Goza and made a video for a song called "Visa De Turista." In 1998, Océano worked on its fourth album, released in 1999 under the name of Corazón Del Universo. On December 15, 2000, the pop/rock act performed at Panama City's La Cantina, recording tracks for its first live album.
