by Stacia ProefrockAnchored by Kiko Motos, the lead touring vocalist for the Gipsy Kings and his son, Juanito, Gipsyland was a band that combined the heritage of flamenco music with modern rhythms and dance mixes. Their debut album, Viva la Música, was produced by Metro (the London-based team of Mark Taylor and Brian Rawling who produced Cher's album Believe, on which Gipsyland appears.) It was released by Hollywood Records in early 2000 and was supplemented by several 12" single releases. Two years later, Gipsyland issued the colorful sounds of Arte.
