At the age of 12, Carlos Cannon started playing the bass guitar in neighborhood bands and in high school. Inspired by the late Grover Washington Jr., Carlos Cannon eagerly picked up the alto saxophone and became the first chair player in the Paul Robeson high school jazz band in Chicago. Carlos Cannon went on to major in music performance at Illinois State University where he formed his own jazz band and took first place in the state jazz band competition. He later transferred to Roosevelt University and continued his musical studies. During his musical development, he became the Saxophonist extraordinaire, producer and songwriter that he is today. Now, it's that time for Carlos Cannon to flood the music industry. He credits Grover Washington, Jr., Gerald Albright, David Sandborn, and Kenny G. among his musical influences. Carlos Cannon, is a R&B and urban smooth jazz saxophonist and song writer. He is a native Chicagoan, who has been making his mark throughout the states and around the Chicago area for more than a two decades as a professional soloist & contemporary jazz artist. His newly released CD, "Steppin' Up The Game," released in March 2010 is one of the most requested R&B and Urban smooth jazz CD in Chicago and is reaching the attention across the states. "Steppin' Up The Game," has a total of 12 songs mostly written by the artist himself. Some of the CD's hottest picks are; "To The Left, To The Right, Loves Gonna Last, I'M Your EveryMan, Up and Down, As We Lay, Come Morning, Reasons, Happy People, Roll With It." The "Steppin' Up The Game," album was produced and recorded by Carlos Cannon for Cannon Productions, Key Productions and other Chicago's recording artists and mixed at Hinge Studio in Chicago. Cannon released his debut CD in 1997, originally titled "In The Name of Love," and later Carlos Cannon was signed to Orpheus Music. The CD title was change to "Carlos Cannon-Chicago's Finest," in 2001and it was said that it topped 23 in Billboard magazine. Orpheus Music sold it rights and later Mr. Cannon was released from the new company for irreconcilable differences. Since the release of his debut CD, in 2003, Carlos Cannon when on to release another smooth jazz album, "Thinking Of You," and later changed title the to "Tak'N It Smooth, in 2005." Due to the flooded market of smooth jazz albums that saturated the music industry. Mr. Cannon stepped up his game and in 2010 released his third album "Steppin' Up The Game." A truly difference CD than all the rest. This album has hit songs after hit songs through out the entire CD. It consists of R&B and smooth urban jazz songs, Soulful vocals coupled with urban sax sound, up-tempo jamming’ beats, dance music, sweet ballads and Chicago’s favorite Stepper’s tunes.
