Hortus Animae是一张来自意大利的黑金属/歌特金属团体，Hortus Animae 是拉丁语，英文意为 The Garden Of The Soul. 由于乐队根基于黑金属，所以黑腔相当重，编曲属前卫里相对凄美那种。乐队组建于1997年。98年自行发布了首张小样 “An Abode for Spirit and Flesh” ，2000年首张录音室专辑 “The Melting Idols” 面世，02年乐队同希腊厂牌 Black Lotus Records 签约发行了第二张专辑 “Waltzing Mephisto”， 05年乐队更换东家（希腊另一厂牌 Sleaszy Rider Records ) 发行了乐队的第三张录音室专辑 “The Blow of Furious Winds” （部分国家2006年初发行）， 07年初乐队宣布解散，目前情况不得而知。

Italy's HortusAnimae (which translates as 'garden of the soul') was formed in 1997 by Martyr Lycifer (vocals/bass), Shred Blast Hypnos (guitar), Bless (keyboards) and Thomas (drums). Bringing a highly theatrical sense of burlesque into their gothic/black metal sonic amalgam, the group recorded their first demo, the spectacularly named &An Abode for Spirit made Flesh& with the help of temporary second guitarist Larsa, then followed it with 1999's The Melting Idols debut. Local support gigs with Lacuna Coil and Napalm Death, among others, ensued, as did various line-up changes before the arrival of new drummer Grom (ex-Ancient) for the recording of their ambitiously symphonic second effort Waltzing Mephisto, released in 2003.
