by Mike DaRoncoCombining the heavy metal influences of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and Slayer with a traditional folk sound that roots from their home country of Ireland, Waylander have been helping in the historical retelling of Celtic mythology since 1993. With the lineup consisting of brothers Ciaran (vocals) and Dermott O'Hagan (guitar), Denis Ferran (drums), and Michael Proctor (bass), the band eventually settled in after recruiting Martin MacCormick (tin whistle/bedhran war drums) in 1997. With their usage of preserving historical Irish folk with '90s heavy metal, Century Media Records took recognition and released Waylander's debut, Reawakening Pride Once Lost, in 1998.
