A Providence, Rhode Island-based rock outfit who hit it big in 1970 with the Top 10 single "Sweet Mary," Wadsworth Mansion issued a handful of singles and one full-length LP before calling it quits in 1972. Formed in 1970 around the talents of Steve Jablecki (vocals/guitar/keyboards), his brother Mike (drums), Wayne Gagnon (guitar), and John Poole (bass), the band wasted little in getting down to business by releasing "Sweet Mary." To capitalize on the song's success, they released their eponymous debut long player shortly after, but despite featuring a trio of strong singles in "Michigan Harry Slaughter," "Havin' Such a Good Time," and "Nine on the Line," the record would be Wadsworth Mansion's sole contribution to popular music. ~ James Christopher Monger
