by MacKenzie WilsonTiger Saw emerged at the dawning of the new millennium in a Los Angeles hotel room and defined their own indie sound. Comprised of Dylan Metrano (guitar/vocals), Juliet Nelson (cello/vocals), Matt Kulick (drums), Jacob Trussell (bass), and John Ryan Gallagher (guitar), Tiger Saw packed their bags for their seaside hometown of Newburyport, MA, shortly thereafter and set up camp. Metrano had self-released How to be Timeless Tonight under the Tiger Saw name in 1999, however 2001's Blessed Are the Trials We Will Find (Kimchee Records) marked the band's proper debut in 2001. Molding jazzy grooves around lyrical innocence, Blessed Are the Trials We Will Find matched the likings of Ida, Songs: Ohia, and Lambchop. Gimme Danger/Gimme Sweetness followed three years later.
