by John BushAlong with Kirk Franklin and Yolanda Adams, William Becton is another gospel artist who made waves on both the religious and popular charts, with fans of gospel as well as secular listeners who don't know (or care) about his underlying message. The singer and producer from Washington, D.C. released his debut album Broken in mid-1995 on Intersound, and watched the single "Be Encouraged" hit the R&B Top 40. His sophomore effort, Heart of a Love Song, appeared on A&M Records in October 1997; B2K: Prophetic Songs of Promise followed in the spring of 2000.
