伊朗高原孕育了古老的波斯文明，在被伊斯兰化之前，已经拥有与希腊比肩的文明成就。波斯音乐对伊斯兰音乐的形成具有重要意义，波斯古代乐器是很多西方乐器的鼻祖，诸如琉特、钦巴龙、提琴、竖琴等等，都是以波斯古乐器为原型。
Mohammad Reza Shadjarian，一位伊斯兰世界偶像级的古乐家，他在本专辑中表演了１４世纪波斯大诗人萨迪和哈菲兹的诗歌吟唱（萨迪和哈菲兹在伊朗的地位，就像中国的杜甫和李白）。给他伴奏的是十一位伊朗民族器乐家，可谓群星捧月。
Mohammad-Reza Shajarian (born September 23, 10 in Mashhad, Iran) is an internationally and critically acclaimed Persian traditional singer, composer and ostad (master) of Persian music.
He has been called "Iran's greatest living master of traditional Persian music."Shajarian is also known for his skills in Persian
calligraphy, and humanitarian activities.
Shajarian has collaborated with Parviz Meshkatian, Mohammad Reza Lotfi, Hossein Alizadeh, and Faramarz Payvar. He is recognised as
skilled singer in the challenging traditional Dastgah style. In 1999 UNESCO in France presented him with the Picasso Award and in 2006
with the UNESCO Mozart Medal.
