by Jason BirchmeierAs Pentax, Cologne producer Reinhard Voigt produces an experimental style of techno based primarily around the structure of rhythms, as his songs all seem to push the boundaries between danceable and jarring beat constructions. Due to this interest in the fine line between groove and dissonance, the Pentax records aren't always meant for the dancefloor, or even a pleasurable listen at times. Voigt has recorded the bulk of his Pentax material for the Profan label, where he has released two CDs -- 1997's Das Album and 1999's Konkret -- in addition to numerous 12" EPs.
