by Jason AnkenyThe heaven's metal band Saviour Machine formed during the late 1980s; originally comprising vocalist Eric Clayton, his guitarist brother Jeff, bassist Dean Forsyth and drummer Chris Fee, the group issued a self-titled demo release in 1990, followed three years later by their official debut LP, also titled eponymously, which featured new drummer Samuel West. Saviour Machine II appeared in 1994, substituting West for drummer Jayson Heart and pianist Nathan Van Hala; the same line-up recorded 1995's Live in Deutschland, with bassist Charles Cooper replacing Forsyth for 1997's Legend Part I. The second chapter in the Legend trilogy followed a year later.
