Sunrise Avenue is a Finnish rock band originally formed in 1992 in Espoo, Finland. In the early days the band was called “Sunrise” and the name was changed to “Sunrise Avenue” in 2001. Sunrise Avenue is known for their catchy melodic and modern songs and energetic live performances. Their style varies from rock and pop-rock to rock ballads. The band has sold more than 700,000 albums and 1,000,000 singles and has played several tours and more than a thousand shows in twenty European countries and Japan. Sunrise Avenue's best known songs are &Hollywood Hills& (2011), &Fairytale Gone Bad& (2006), &Forever Yours& (2007), &The Whole Story& (2009), &Heal Me& (2007) and &Welcome To My Life& (2009). On the Way to Wonderland Finnish alternative rockers Sunrise Avenue favor a brand of melodic semi-hard rock with apparent influences ranging from Pearl Jam to Bon Jovi. Formed in Helsinki in 2002, the band consists of singer, songwriter, and guitarist Samu Haber, lead guitarist Janne Karkkainen, keyboardist Jukka Backlund, bassist Raul Ruutu, and drummer Sami Osala. After signing to EMI worldwide in 2005, Sunrise Avenue released their debut single, &All Because of You,& in early 2006. This was followed by &Romeo& and the European hit &Fairy Tale Gone Bad,& before Sunrise Avenue's debut album, On the Way to Wonderland, was released in the fall of 2006. The album achieved gold record status in their native Finland and won Sunrise Avenue four trophies at the NRJ Radio Awards, the Nordic equivalent of the Grammys, including Best Album and Best New Artist. Three years later, the band released Popgasm and in 2011 Out of Style appeared. In 2012 Sunrise Avenue released a 'Live Edition' of the album featuring bonus live material.
