by Jason LymangroverSelf-described as "glam rock from the year 1066," Ex Reverie is a neo-psychedelic folk project led by bewitching blonde frontwoman Gillian Chadwick. As a lead guitarist for Golden Ball and collaborator in Woodwose and Rusalnaia, Gillian felt the urge to explore her musical roots and start a solo project that reached back to the days when she was discovering David Bowie and Jefferson Airplane while growing up in a small shack looking over the Blue Ridge Mountains. After picking up a guitar, she had relocated to Bucks County, in eastern Pennsylvania, and started writing and recording songs. Embracing a number of styles of music, she started performing solo hippie-ish acoustic sets and rocking out with a local death metal group while attending college. She met and married fellow musician David Chadwick, and dropped out of school to live a bohemian lifestyle crafting and selling fairy crowns and elfwear or playing music. Realizing that she should have something to fall back on, she finished up and graduated with a philosophy degree, only to return to her chosen passion as a musician. Recruiting help from her husband, her bandmates, and some other friendly neighborhood musician types, Gillian entered Greg Weeks' Hexham Head Studio and recorded The Door into Summer, which was released on Weeks' Language of Stone label in January of 2008.
