Growing up between Washington, D.C., and a farm in Georgia, Alice Smith spent much of her time listening to and singing many different genres of music, but it wasn't until her college years that she began to actually consider the possibility that her voice could be her career. Singing backup for a band at Fordham University, Smith was in the studio one day when the manager (and head of BBE Records in the U.S.) heard them perform. A record deal followed shortly and Smith released her impressive debut, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me, a mix of rock, soul, and R&B, in 2006.
