by Andy KellmanMuch like his brother Alex Attias, Stephane Attias started DJing in his homebase of Lusanne, Switzerland in the late 80s. After gaining a solid reputation as a jock and scenester, Attias moved into radio and began presenting a weekly dance program on Swiss national radio called Cool It Down. In the mid-90s, he started the Chic label to release some of his solo productions. He also began collaborating with his brother as Riverplate around this time and released some of his best solo work (Travellers, Liquid Pleasure) for his brothers Visions Inc. label around the turn of the decade. Another excellent production, Distant Planet (originally released on Neroli) was highlighted on his brothers Selector Series, Vol. 1 mix for Goya Music. Attias productions regularly fall into a categorical nether land that hybridizes house, jazz-funk, and the late 90s development called broken beat.
