by Dave SlegerFormed in 1994 in Kiel, Germany, Tears for Beers is first and foremost a Celtic rock band. They also routinely implement their appreciation of Irish folk, bluegrass, and country music. Their first album, Tears for Beers (1994), is their most folk-oriented recording boasting ten traditional numbers from Ireland, Germany, and the U.S. in addition to a few covers. Cracky Bones (1996) included several original songs by frontman Lars Jensen; however, the traditional pieces still outnumbered their own compositions. Mud Water Dance (1999) is comprised exclusively of folk songs, mostly of Irish origin.
