艺人介绍

by Stacia ProefrockFormed by Paul ODriscoll in 1997, The Bowhouse Quintet features ODriscoll on double bass, as well as a fine mixture of musicians from Ireland and the United States. Fiddle player Liam Lewis, raised near Spiddal, County Galway, lent a hand with the composition of several songs for The Bowhouse Quintet, and has played with Davy Spillane and Sean Tyrell. Fiddle player Tola Custy is from Toonagh, County Clare. His early exposure to music (his father, Frank, was one of the most famous musicians in Clare) helped him develop his unique style. The lone American, Jesse Smith, plays viola and also most likely chose music because of his family connections — his mother is Donna Long of Cherish the Laties. Cellist Clare ODonoghue is originally from Dundalk and lives in Galway. She was a member of the Irish Youth Orchestra prior to her professional cello career. The Bowhouse Quintet brings together this diverse group and shows that a string quintet led by a double-bass player can effectively play Celtic-style music. Their debut album, Live in Ennis proves this, and shows off their harmonious renditions of new material and traditional songs.
