With Midnight Drive, the Kinsey Report attempts to expand the sonic palette of blues by adding elements of funk and hard rock. Although there are some interesting moments -- primarily in the skillful solos -- the music often falls flat and the songwriting isn't distinctive. The band's attempts at diversity are admirable, but ultimately unsuccessful.
