For SRS003, Hong Kong-via-Vancouver beatsmith Delf delivers a 4 track EP dubbed 'Give It 2 Me.' The title track is a nod to the multicultural diaspora of Hong Kong and the vibrant pop-up parties you'll find in the dimly-lit malls of Nepalese and Ghanian neighborhoods of Jordan and TST.
Syncopated drums are layered over a catchy vocal hook, while the keys are tinged with the hedonism of dancing till the early hours. Follow up track "Going Down" is a stripped-down club banger which shows the producer's versatility as a sampler, reworking snippets from Buffalo Springfield and Palisades' iconic hits with a downtown swing.
In "Lost Soul" we're reminded of a slower time in the Orient, as Delf takes listener's back a notch with emotive percussions trademarked by his past project 'Intergalactic Soul Movement.'
Rounding out the EP is "Show Me The Way," a cinematic score that blends the fragility of early 2000s slow jams with raw inspirations found strolling through the neon city. The EP was debuted at Hong Kong's first ever Boiler Room and edited in tandem with Delf's live set during the showcase.
