Finland's most successful rock band The Rasmus return with a brand new album, named "Dark Matters".
"The thinking behind our new songs was to create the kind of music we would like to listen to ourselves," says the single Lauri Ylönen. "We haven't abandoned our northern melancholy but you can hear a wide range of influences in our new material. The new album is like a rollercoaster with many different emotions and personal feelings. Our music is at times dark, melodic and sad," Ylönen explains.
The record "Dark Matters" was produced in Stockholm by the very successful Swedish team The Family over a period of six months.
Since the last album "The Rasmus" came out in 2012, the band members Lauri Ylönen, Pauli Rantasalmi, Eero Heinonen and Aki Hakala took some time to try to catch up with their lives. Lauri moved to Los Angeles, a change that resonates in many of the songs he has written since.
"The lyrics are very varied, as they reflect issues we've faced from these past years – from those sweeter experiences to darker feelings. A couple of songs on the other hand observe the world through a childlike and more imaginative lens."
The Rasmus' new album also means one thing that will cheer up their fans: a long world tour. "We are planning tours for 2017 and 2018 in most parts of the world, starting in November with Europe," Ylönen tells us.
