多明戈表示，这并不是一次简单随心的尝试：“专辑表现的是我的声音，也会一直保持我原本的、大家十分熟悉的声音。”但是，全新的男中音歌剧选段的确使我们发现了多明戈此前不为人知的才华。“就像是看到了画家的调色板上出现了新的色彩，声音的质量和音准唱出了前所未有的表现方式，这是人让人激动的事——无论是演唱者还是听众。”

For the very first time, Plácido Domingo records a complete album of baritone repertoire: here he assembles Verdi´s most beloved baritone arias from Don Carlo, Rigoletto, La Traviata and Simon Boccanegra among many others. Verdi played the largest part in Domingo´s long career. His debut as an opera singer was in the part of Borsa in Rigoletto. As he has sung 22 of Verdi tenor roles and has recorded all of Verdi´s tenor arias, Domingo feels excited to now be able to explore the darker characters of Verdi’s opera. In 2009 Plácido Domingo performed his first baritone title role as Simon Boccanegra at the Royal Opera House in London, which was soon followed by leading roles as Rigoletto, Francesco Foscari and Giorgio Germont from La Traviata. This year will see Domingo debut in the leading roles of Nabucco at the Metropolitan Opera New York and Conte di Luna from Il Trovatore at the State Opera in Berlin. Considered to be THE Verdi tenor of his generation, Plácido Domingo presents now a new side of his vocal abilities, for which one may want to name him THE Verdi singer. Plácido Domingo is accompanied by the Orquestra de la Comunítat Valencíana under the direction of conductor Pablo Heras-Casado. His work in the recording studio has earned him 12 Grammy Awards, three of which are Latin Grammys, and his telecast of Tosca from the authentic settings in Rome was seen by more than one billion people in 117 different countries. His appearances around the world with his colleagues José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti in the legendary The Three Tenors concerts are one of the great musical success stories.
