This album was the first I heard from jazz group Perigeo, from my point of view, one of the italian masters of jazz, arbeit being below AREA, this guys in this album produced a masterpiece! Yeah! This album is actually aun pair with any AREA album.
The tracks flow really well together, the themes never repeat themselves again, starting with Genealogia, the best way of starting an album like this, passing the torch onto Polaris, a fast paced track, now really starting the game they set onto doing, a pure jazz track!
Torre del Lago is calmer track, with a thoughful piano really beautiful, and then we get Via Beato Angelico, a track that is ambience style based, just here for us to relax and then fasts the pace again with some nice percussion and a guitar leading the way, nice!
And now (In) Vino Veritas!!! My favourite of this album! Really a pure masterpiece of technicallity and full of range, with the interplay of all the band being incredible, you really need to hear this one!
Monti Pallidi is a favorite of mine as well, the connection of the sax with the piano is soft and works well, the passages are really well done and great to just kickback and relax. The piano solo here is really good. Grandi Spazi is another insightfull track, based on the sax and the bass working together, while the piano gives that dream feeling. Very relaxing again. But then comes another favourite of mine, Old Vienna! Another more fast paced track, with the bass and the drums working greatly, what a musicians these guys are, each time the song advances they add more instruments to the mix, the drummer adapting itself to the needs of the track, the guitarist distorting his guitar and giving some really cool riffs, this track has more rock written in it, that a lot of the so called rock groups from the 80's and 90's.
Now we have the last track, Sidney's call; nice percussion, guitar shows itself, and a relaxing voice shows us the way to the end of this album while the sax accompanies the voice sometimes. But then! What? The track paces itself and explodes! AH!AH! You really thought it was going to end in that mood? Nope, its another great track with the guitar and the sax showing the way, with the drummer making us hear his virtuoso skills, but then returning to its calming and relaxing mood; nice interplay in this track, and a nice surprising way of ending the album. Even I in the first spins I gave wasn't expecting this ending!
A total masterpiece of Jazz Rock/Fusion. Just try to acquire this one. You really need it!
