This brief Heptones album was originally released in 1986, and featured the second edition of the group (Earl Morgan, Naggo Morris, and Barry Llewellyn). While it spotlights the trademark smooth harmonies that have always been the strength of the Heptones in both incarnations, it also suffers from the same curious lapse of judgment that has dogged the post-Leroy Sibbles version of the group. What possessed them to tackle &Three Coins in the Fountain& is anybody's guess, while their remake of Culture Club's &Do You Really Want to Hurt Me& is ill-advised and completely unnecessary. That said, a couple of these tracks (&You Don't Know Me,& &Someday&) are really lovely, but not enough to overcome the aforementioned clunkers. The end result is that Changing Times wastes some nice rhythm tracks and sounds like an album in search of a clear vision.
