The band’s debut album ‘equal unequals to equal’ was released in 2013 to critical acclaim. And a Mainland China tour soon followed and saw the band land a spot at the well-known Strawberry Music Festival in Beijing and Shanghai. In the years to follow, they have played music festivals around the region including Hong Kong’s Clockenflap, Singapore’s BayBeats, and Taiwan’s T-Fest. Now three years since their debut, the band returns with a new album named 在 (“Zoi”). Mixed and Mastered by Mino Takaaki of Japanese math rock band toe’s fame, Zoi is decidedly darker than its predecessor, and reflects on the unsettling past, present, and future of their hometown Hong Kong.
Zoi is comprised of ten blistering tracks of instrumental rock, with the band pushing themselves both technically and creatively. Unlike their debut album, Zoi veers away from the more melodic side of the band and explores their dark side. Utilizing both noise and rhythm, tfvsjs has created a complex piece of experimental work that sees them reaching new creative heights.
