It's been nearly 2 years since Dustin Tebbutt's acclaimed debut solo recording - 'The Breach' - set blogs and Triple J alight. His story of creating the bleak epic during the depths of a Scandinavian winter captured imaginations everywhere. Now, he's finally coming "Home."

'Home' is both the lead track and the title of the imminent 7 song mini-album by the bespectacled Australian singer/songwriter. Appropriately enough, all the tracks on 'Home' were written, recorded, produced and performed at home by Dustin. Not surprisingly there's a mood of solitary contemplation running right through this work. Much of it was captured in a dark bedroom during the wee small hours and it shows.

While he wouldn't be drawn on the specific personal experiences that inspired “Home”, Dustin reflects that all of the songs are drawn from one period of time in his life and thus probably share similar lyrical obsessions.

"Basically all the songs on 'The Breach EP' and the EP after it were from a batch I'd written in Sweden so there was a pretty clear chapter of life outlined for me there," he explains. "'Home' and all the other songs on this mini-album were written nearly a year later when I finally got back to Australia. I was pretty unsettled for a while. All of these songs seemed to fall out of that period when I was trying to find my feet back here. They define the next chapter for me and that's why I wanted to put them all on the one release, Hopefully people will sense that thread. After moving around so much, I was yearning for some stability. I guess I was really looking at what or where home was because at the time it felt like something that was always out of reach."

Ironically it was only once he'd relocated from the regional NSW town of Armidale and put down some roots in Sydney's inner west that he was able to begin tracking all these songs of dislocation and yearning. As such the title 'Home' is also quietly paradoxical.

Furthering that apparent contradiction the recording happened on and off over the last year as constant touring opportunities arose for him elsewhere. Over the last 18 months he's done over 100 shows in Australia and overseas - gradually finding his voice both literally and figuratively.
