通常处男专辑一鸣惊人，伴随而来的是众目睽睽之下，你必须想出更好的「梗」或变出更「有趣」的把戏，也因此往往造就了乐队第二发「卡弹」的情况。有些乐队会求助外援来增添听觉上的异趣，如Two Door Cinema Club；也有人继续徒法炼钢，借助老鸟的经验引领乐队继续向上，如TOY。这些年，大家一起追的女孩都叫作「复古」，Tama Impala、Beaches把披头四、六○迷幻洗的透彻，试图从人类听觉的熟悉点找到共鸣；同样的道理，The Horrors第三张专辑《Skying》带领歌迷遨游於德国七○年代Krautrock的穹苍之下，顺道造就了TOY的成功出世。Rhys Webb亦或The Horrors均不能保证TOY的前景，未来全凭自己功夫；索性乐队新单曲〈Join the Dots〉甫一祭出，便能继续领跑Nu-Krautrock之地位，这下子轮到The Horrors该要心急了？

德国Krautrock先驱Neu!作品向来又臭又长，这点英伦乐队TOY倒是模仿的维妙维俏，第二张大碟《Join the Dots》首支曝光同名单曲〈Join the Dots〉当真来了一齣长达八分鐘的公路漫游，从浑沌的Bassline、Motoring的鼓击节拍再至幽闭的合成器音色堆砌，让人轻易地联想起《Neu!2》、以及好友The Horrors那首犹如漩涡般的krautrock佳作〈Moving Further Away〉。新专辑《Join the Dots》甫一开场的〈Conductor〉便把上回没死透的七○迷幻之黑暗骑士Mototring重新召回。紧接著〈You Won’t Be the Same〉如此幽默之自我讨侃，把乐队稍稍拉回正格的Indie Rock路线，挺有早期Primal Scream的风骨。〈As We Turn〉彷彿才是这群嬉皮应该重返的六○年代；〈Left to Wander〉佈置了一手New Wave的梦幻音韵，〈Too Far Gone to Know〉则做足了披头四《Rubber Soul》取经印度音乐的剪影，实则继续朝高速公路Motoring扬长而去。《Join the Dots》未免有些贪心，怎可把Beatles与Neu!炒成同一道菜。(Text by 伊森)

Psych expansionists TOY have announced details of their second album, Join The Dots.

The follow-up to 2012s self-titled debut sticks to a few fundamentals: Its been produced by Dan Carey again, and its gaining release on Heavenly Recordings.

Its lead, title-track is streaming now, ahead of the records release on 9th December. The single itself is released on a 300-edition 7", 21st October. Its TOY at their grizzly, explorative best, stampeding over anyone whod dare to stand in the way of their psych freakout pursuit.

TOY have also announced their biggest show to date at Londons Shepherds Bush Empire, taking place on 26th April 2014 (tickets on sale now).
