"Oops!... I Did It Again" is a pop song written and produced in late 1999 by Max Martin and Rami Yacoub for Britney Spears' 2000 album of the same name. The track's musical style was strongly similar to many songs that appeared on her debut album ...Baby One More Time (1999), and its lyrics refer to love as a game. "Oops!" received predominately positive reviews from pop music critics and was nominated at the 43rd Grammy Awards in the category of "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance". "Oops!" is generally perceived as one of Spears' signature songs by the media and the general public.
The song was chosen as the album's lead single and was released in March 2000 (see 2000 in music). It enjoyed similar commercial success as her debut single "...Baby One More Time" (1998), reaching number one in many territories including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and continental Europe. Its accompanying music video ranks among her most famous, and began to more openly express a sexually-provocative Spears.
