After a debut that deconstructed techno into a barren landscape of percussion pinpricks and barely-there atmospherics, SND appears to have gone one step farther and deconstructed their own deconstructions. It's a process that leaves Stdiosnd Types sounding dangerously close to the equivalent of a blank CD-R. On the opener, it takes about five minutes for the quasi-beatless percussion to organize itself into a rhythm while warm, muted synth expresses a lazy mood. The song actually lasts all of the second track as well, and only shifts slightly for the third. It turns out Stdiosnd Types is a bit of a glitch mix album; the trance-state atmospherics and clicking rhythms often continue on through multiple tracks. Unfortunately, this only exaggerates the increasing effect of boredom. By the seventh track, SND reaches a minimalist nadir of sorts, and thankfully picks its way back to a more conscious form of music-making. Still, Stdiosnd Types reaches a bit too far.
