The jacket of Fever and Smoke, besides featuring a flaming photograph, is labelled "Exotic 'Percussion' Swing." Even such an appellation does not justice to the wacky version of "Tequila," with gong in place of the word. Several other percussion instruments are introduced, and they seem to propel the organ to higher degrees of frantic playfulness. Suns arranger Charles Albertine contributes two originals, "Beyond the Sun" and "Smoke."
