A good sharp set of a dozen numbers, Davis getting into numbers relatively well known (&Motherless Children,& &You Got to Move&) and more obscure. His guitar playing is in fine form throughout, though at least as good are his hoarse, spirited vocals. Listen to the rich, urgent upper-register moans that punctuate &Crucifixion& for proof. The jubilant &I'll Fly Away& is an outstanding example of country-gospel-blues' potential to uplift and inspire.
