With the Stooges and on his own, Iggy Pop is known to be a dynamo in concert. California Hitchhike captures his force-of-nature live show from one of the high points of his career: culled from his four-night stay at San Francisco's Old Waldorf in November 1979, this set features not only some of Iggy's definitive songs from his solo career and with the Stooges, but a killer backing band. Sex Pistol Glen Matlock, the Damned's Brian James, and the Patti Smith Group's Ivan Král add extra heat to songs like "No Fun" and "New Values." Packaged in an oversized, laminated slipcase, the set also includes rare photographs and a previously unreleased track, "Hitchhiking in California."
