专辑介绍

by Greg Adams

&This Little Girl of Mine,& a heartfelt expression of a father's love for his daughter, was a Top Five hit for Faron Young in 1972 and one of his last big hits even though he remained on the charts through the end of the '80s. The accompanying album, ponderously titled Faron Young Sings This Little Girl of Mine, begins with that hit before negotiating a list of mostly downcast songs that quickly dispel the sentimental glow of the title track. &Forever Was the Name of Our Sunshine& is an example of the kind of nonsense that crept into country music in the early '70s, although it at least serves as an upbeat buffer between the title track and later songs like the depressive's lament &One of My Sad Days& and the heartbroken torment of &A Woman's Touch.& &Left to Right and Right to Wrong& is one of the then-new breed of sexually frank country songs that caused so much controversy at the time, and seems a little inappropriate on an album centered around a sweet song about a little girl. The album is a strange emotional rollercoaster of hard country songs, some of which are worthy of individual consideration even though they do not hold together as an album.
