One Night Stands was the album released just prior to Hank Williams, Jr.'s breakthrough onto the country charts with "Whisky Bent and Hell Bound." You can hear Hank Jr. shedding the last of his famous father's legacy and developing his own outlaw persona. One Night Stands utilizes modern Southern rock-oriented arrangements that emphasized Bocephus' interest in the Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, and the Marshall Tucker Band. While the album didn't generate any hits, it does include some very personal songwriting in the Kris Kristofferson vein, including "She's Still the Star (On the Stage of My Mind)" and "It's Different With You."
