Joseph Hadyn was a great composer in the Classical period. His Piano Sonata No. 31 was composed in 1767. During this time, Haydn entered a stylistic period known as "Sturm und Drang". The musical language of this period is similar to what went before, but it is deployed in work that is more intensely expressive, especially in the slow movement.
Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist. A crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romantic eras in classical music, he remains one of the most recognized and influential of all composers. His Piano Sonata No. 1 in F minor, Op. 2, No. 1, was written in 1795 and dedicated to Joseph Haydn. We can find many Haydn musical language in this work, but the last movement was totally different. We couldn't find some similar texture in Haydn and Mozart. It sounds like Beethoven wanted to challenge his predecessors.
