Swing Swang Swung, Guardian's third release, is a failed experiment with acoustic folk music. While a few chords and riffs appear in the songs from time to time, the balance on the album is poor and most of the melodies fail to even be catchy. No matter how hard it tries, &The Way Home Back& never provides a decent hook and is just as dull as the rest of the album. Swing Swang Swung is hardly as strong as any of Guardian's previous music, and it shows a midpoint of departure from their classic rock & roll, evident on their follow-up, Buzz.
