《Thomas Stabenow presents Li Xiaochuan 》是一张由来自世界各地的爵士音乐家们合作录制的唱片，是一封由德国爵士贝司演奏家、教授Thomas Stabenow发起的音乐邀请函。专辑中成熟而富有创造力的音乐表达，使聆听者们更深一步体会到——爵士音乐是世界的语言！今年二月份，Thomas Stabenow邀请中国著名爵士小号演奏家、作曲家李晓川来到德国，二人与其他四位音乐家即兴互动，创造了一场一气呵成的音乐会，音韵清晰而流畅，与他们当时在德国时的心境一致。
本张专辑收录了十首脍炙人口的经典爵士乐曲，从名家Thelonious Monk、Charlie Parker到Kenny Barron，从传统曲”St. Louis Blues”到 “My Funny Valentine” ，都极其旋律化且带有Fusion印记，即便是对爵士音乐不那么了解的乐迷，听着这样的音乐也会受到感染。”Ba-Lue Bolivar Ba-Lues-Are”、”I Fall In Love Too Easily”、”Barbados”以及”Little Sunflower”等多首名曲均被换上了全新的爵士霓裳羽衣，亮丽依旧且更富吸引力，少了一些传统爵士乐的艰涩，添上了更多柔软的世界民俗味道，像是对欧洲旅行的记录，也像是一份意外的收获。
音乐家们对这些经典音乐充满情怀，对摇摆律动创新诠释，他们设计不同的编制完成不同曲目，拿捏着熟悉的音符，理性与感性的对话深蕴其中，仿佛是听着几位老友们以乐器的言语聊着各自的生活与创作，记录精彩、洒脱、快乐，抑或是淡淡忧愁，而一切都轻松地由耳朵进入心里。

Having a drink and a cigar in the penthouse of Walter Grupp (the "guter Geist" behind Bassic Sound) looking over the port of Nice, all of a sudden he came up with the idea to invite someone from China and see what will happen and as you can hear, a lot has happened. Enjoy Li Xiaochuan in 3 different settings: just with bass and drums (and udu! - his lovely wife Rong Chenchu joined us on "My Funny Valentine"), then listen to the nice blend of the tracks with the extraordinaire Martin Scales on guitar, in my opinion the most charming setup a jazzquartet with trumpet can sound and last not least 2 titles where we used older rhythm-tracks (with the fine Tino Derado on piano) and added the new trumpet. Not to forget the telepathic interplay of bass and drums with my old friend Michael Kersting (we know each other for more than 40 years!).
"Thomas Stabenow presents Li Xiaochuan" is a fine example of acoustic world-jazz with musicians from Shanghai, Berlin, Frankfurt and Heidelberg, swinging and grooving - please enjoy the CD as much as we did recording it.
