When I got this one (as bonus-disc of the limited edition of SODOM's &Code Red&), I took a boo to the tracklist, and quickly noticed these are among the best stuff SODOM have ever created, covering the early days of the band. So, I said to myself: &That's a pretty good way to introduce a tribute&.
And I was right, 'cos despite the fact I can hardly stomach tribute albums (there are way too many, and the quality of them is mostly very low), I rather liked this one.
I don't wanna go stuffy with a track-by-track review (heck, the album counts 15 tracks!). To cut it short, highlights include KRISIUN with an impressive rendition of &Nuclear Winter&, IMPALED NAZARENE (kudos for the drumming sound; it simply kills all the way through: IMMENSE), the all time classic &Outbreak Of Evil& by ATANATOS, and a sicker (if this is even possible) version of &Blasphemer&, courtesy of LUCIFERION. The rest of the material is just average, but luckily enough the quality level never goes despicable, 'cept for one extremly annoying song, i.e. the GODDESS OF DESIRE one.
The production of the tracks fluctuates from good to plain horrible, but I think it's not that important, considering the fact SODOM first incarnation never paid real attention to that aspect.
In the end, it's a lot of fun, 'cos this time around the bonus disc ranks higher than the main release! But don't get me wrong, after all I got this one for free and I'm an old SODOM-fan, so this tribute easily won over me. It's amongst the best tribute albums I've heard so far, but there are so many better records out there...
