A much more playful and energetic outing from the Cutler/Cooper connection, and it might have something to do with guest singer Robert Wyatt. Only Wyatt could sing Cutler's staunch, impressionistic lyrics and wring out some emotion. And as if in response, the music jumps and plays, taking in Eastern polka-isms, and up-tempo folk dance rhythms. Even the slower songs feature punchy keyboard and accordion arrangements. &Dark Matter,& &Banknote,& and &Waited/Justice& are all fine songs that blend the experimental with the melodic.
