Though Eldorado and Indigo are certainly among O'Hearn's finest albums, his startling debut, Ancient Dreams, remains the purest example of his innovative style. The keyboardist creates a sense of understated drama through a starkly elegant interplay of synthesized melodies and pseudo-pop rhythms. This unpredictable manipulation of the composer's rock and jazz roots suggests the wide open spaces of surreal landscapes. It is an all-time classic in the contemporary electronic field.
