Shellac, the Chicago-based three piece led by Steve Albini, have announced their sixth studio album and first in eight years. Entitled Dude Incredible, the nine-track effort was recorded at Albini’s Electrical Audio studios and mastered completely in analog by Steve Rooke at Abbey Road. A September 16th release is set through Touch & Go Records.
While that news is exciting, don’t expect any singles or other normal publicity vehicles in the lead up to the album’s release. According to the press release, “Other than the informational sheet you hold in your hand (or virtual hand), this record will have no formal promotion. There will be no advertisements, no press or radio promotion, no e-promotion, no promotional or review copies, no promotional gimmick items, and otherwise no free lunch.”
