Stockfisch唱片录音採用二十八位元的类比数位转换器、NAGRA-D等超发烧设备录制，并以B&W NAUTILUS 801进行监听。

1984至1995年间，英国民谣巨匠亚伦．泰勒自行成立唱片公司、自己製作的数张优质专辑，经由老虎鱼唱片公司优异的母带重新处理，以最完美的面貌发行，让我们听到游吟诗人的最重要作品。

低沉醇美的嗓音、饱满丰润的吉他演奏、温暖自然的空间感与经典优美的歌曲，对所有老虎鱼唱片公司的乐迷来说，亚伦．泰勒的这些特质都非常的熟悉。但在这张早期精选中，我们可以惊讶的发现，原来亚伦．泰勒早就是个唱片品质的完美主义者！

在1984年至1995年间，亚伦．泰勒对于当时的唱片公司制作品质极度不满，因此自己成立了T Records唱片公司，发行自己的专辑。很难想像，当时的亚伦．泰勒要自己负责制作、管理、发行，而在这些年间他还不断演唱写曲、替电视节目製作配乐、甚至回到大学进修获得了博士学位。在专辑的序文中，亚伦．泰勒认为这是他一生中创作力最旺盛的年代。

与过去的专辑相同，每首歌曲都有作者亲自撰写的歌曲背景。我们从这些歌曲中看到亚伦．泰勒在这些年中的朋友、感情、家人、偶像、工作等的种种面貌。在亚伦．泰勒的创作中，旅行是最重要的因素，这位出身英国的现代游吟诗人，歌曲故事散佈在欧洲、美国、纽西兰等不同地区。除了自己的创作外，他也演唱了偶像鲍伯狄伦名曲「Don't Think Twice, It's All Right」。

亚伦．泰勒到底有多重视唱片品质呢？他不但会找到他认为最好的录音室与乐手，在录音完毕之后还会到摇滚圣地Abbey Road录音室刻片。在那个唱片公司因为石油危机而压制超薄劣质黑胶唱片的年代，亚伦．泰勒还找到只发行古典音乐的Nimbus唱片公司，说服他们帮他制造唱片。原来早在80年代，亚伦．泰勒就已经以发烧厂商的精神在执行自己的音乐理想了。如他自己所说：「在追逐卓越的过程中我从没想过赚钱，只要最终产品是顶尖的就好了。而我认为，各位聆听者一定能够从我们所挑选的这些歌曲中听到这些品质。」

很幸运的，老虎鱼唱片是一家同样追求卓越品质的公司。这张精选辑的母带由Gunter Pauler所带领的团队进行母带重新处理，优秀的品质当然不容怀疑。第一首歌曲「The Years I Travelled」是2012年全新录制，大家不妨听听看，相隔几乎三十年的老录音经过重新处理后，声音的品质与全新作品几乎无法分辨，同样优秀无比。

Wir haben 20 Songs aus dieser Zeit, in der Allan noch nicht bei Stockfisch produzierte, remastered. Interessant ist auch die Liste der damaligen Mit-Musiker: z.B. Rick Kemp (Steeleye Span), Maartin Allcock (Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull) oder Mike Silver.

Außerdem hat Allan Taylor noch den Titelsong dieser Doppel-CD geschrieben und mit Lutz Möller am Piano im Stockfisch-Studio eingespielt: "Down The Years I Travelled ?"

Allan Taylor: "The albums from which this collection of songs was taken were made between 1984 and 1995. This was without doubt the most creative period of my life. During this time, apart from writing and recording the songs for the albums, I was touring extensively, playing clubs, concerts and festivals throughout the world, and working on various projects for the BBC."

"Certain styles of recording have changed since those days, such as the type of reverb used, but overall the technical quality is superb. Günter Pauler, Hans-Jörg Maucksch and Inés Breuer of Stockfisch Records have done an excellent job in collating and mastering the chosen tracks. They have worked to their usual high standard of excellence to produce something that I had hoped would one day happen - a "best of" from my T Records years."
