After listening to Petals on the Path (2010), for the exception of a few tracks, I felt a bit underwhelmed by the album. i had some reservations about Ottmar Liebert's new album Dune. I've had a chance to listen to Dune for the past couple of days and have been pleasantly surprised.
The feel of the music is both familiar and new. I felt like I was listening to what could have been bonus tracks to The Scent of Light (2008), Little Wing (2001) and The Hours Between Night + Day (1993).
The tracks Dancing Alone and On The Road To Shiraz from his previous album Petals On the Path are included in this album. In my opinion, the newer versions of these two tracks are more enjoyable compared to the originals.
OL has been able to create something new infused with familiarity which makes you feel like you are, in fact, listening to an OL album, which Petals lacked. In terms of the individual tracks, they are all very enjoyable even though OL set the bar high with Silence: No More Longing from The Scent of Light.
This is a great album and would recommend it to any Ottmar Liebert fan.
