iTunes Review
In 1994, Cardinal released its self-titled orch-pop album, which captured the imagination of alternative bands looking for something other than discordant guitars to flesh out their hopes and dreams. The album made cult heroes out of Richard Davies and Eric Matthews, whose love of the early Bee Gees, The Association, The Free Design, and psychedelic-era Beatles was out of step with the times. Now, acoustic guitars, horns, and harpsichords return for Cardinal's first collaboration in 18 years. As on many of Davies' and Matthews' solo albums, the material here is light and airy, with luminous moods floating through ornate arrangements.
