Mandalay 的首张专辑《Empathy 神入》在英国本土取得了非常大的成功，Trip-Hop的节奏融合着Dream Pop的质感，细腻柔美而不大气，弥漫出一种新鲜浪漫但是略有些忧郁的气息。各式乐器的使用和老式的流行曲的编排应该是 Saul Freeman 的常项，而 Nicola Hitchcock 则明显更习惯于在这种行云流水的节奏中宣泄她的情感，然后在空气中慢慢的沉淀。就这两方面而言，《This Life》都做到了极至。《Beautiful》的缓拍留下了一串无尽的回味，《Enough love》的犹豫也消逝在了后面的音符中，正如标题《Empathy 神入》所示，惟有 Mandalay 依旧还在向我们诉说着灵魂。
