Not to be confused with the other like-named compilations, this particular Best of the Pointer Sisters was released by Germany's Ariola in 1996. It's wholly reliant on the Pointers' '80s albums, meaning that plenty of their mainstream funk-pop hits and slick ballads are in full supply ("Neutron Dance," "Jump," "Slow Hand," "I'm So Excited," "Automatic," "Baby Come and Get It," "I Need You," "Should I Do It?"). That means that there's nothing from the Blue Thumb era, which could make some people continue to think that the Pointer Sisters were a new group when either "Fire" or "He's So Shy" became successful.
