All Destructive Urges... tends to swing between two sounds -- segments of the record fall somewhere between the solid Northwestern rock of early Built to Spill and the crunchy rock of L.A.'s Poop Alley bands, but Lowercase takes frequent turns into twisted rock-outs that never seem to fare as well as their more melodic leanings. This makes for a somewhat spotty release, but not a bad one -- there's enough solid, melodic, and engaging rock on the album to make it marginally worthwhile.
