This is the first of Enoch Light's forays into recording not on magnetic tape, but on specially coated 35mm film, the sprocket holes of which kept the media moving at a steady speed. The sound is crisp and full and the stereo separation fine, no doubt, but most listeners would be hard-pressed now to tell the difference between this and tape. No matter, Light arranges standards for his orchestra like a friendly school teacher -- always making sure every musician gets a bar or two to do his or her thing. There are nice solos here from orchestra regulars such as Doc Severinsen, Phil Bodner, and Bobby Byrne.
