The Bible is a lofty title to live up to and Christian Death, notorious for their high-brow (or is it low-brow?) concepts, have created a mixed assemblage of album tracks, outtakes, and unreleased songs that, unlike the Bible, will not generate followers. The first two tracks, are live recordings from their 1999 tour (as are the much better "The Serpent's Tail" and the less stellar "Zero Sex") are a poor introduction to The Bible, with overly reverbed vocals and unhappy chaos. Throughout, too few of the songs stand out; however, there are notable exceptions, such as "This Is Heresy," "Malus Amor," "Pig Half Man," and "Washing Machine." "Washing Machine" is a fantastically catchy reinterpretation of LTNO's "Washing Head" and is the best new track contained here. The Bible will be necessary for Christian Death fans, but to all others, this is a hit or miss collection with the best songs being better heard on their far superior original albums, such as Sex & Drugs & Jesus Christ and Prophecies.
