Local champions of ambient post-rock Sleepmakeswaves will continue to stun audiences around Australia with an upcoming string of live shows in support of their new album 'Love of Cartography,' which will be released on July 4.
A headline tour, kicking off on July 5 in Newcastle, will launch their second album, promising the unforgettable and thundering sequences they have developed a reputation for.
The first taste of the record was recently premiered on Triple J in the form of electronic-rock epic 'Something like Avalanches,' steady preparing us for another package of complex post-rock.
'Love of Cartography’ presents the band’s continued desire to map new creative directions within their instrumental rock framework.
Recorded in Byron Bay at Studio 301 with producer Nick DiDia (Karnivool, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Powderfinger, Rage Against The Machine), the album was supported by a Pozible pre-order campaign, through which the band raised over $30,000 from fans.
The instrumental post-rock/prog quartet have had an amazing run since the release of their debut album “…and so we destroyed everything.” Over the past 3 years, their busy schedule has included 8 Australian tours, 3 European tours, touring the USA and playing SXSW, supports for 65daysofstatic and Karnivool – and an unprecedented nomination for an ARIA Award in 2012.
