Blank & Jones were never ones to massage the frontal lobes, and Nightclubbing, their first album for Edel Germany, is no exception. It's got the quasi-progressive pop favored by the 2001-stamped Radio 1 rank and file but it's doggedly oblivious of its own galloping cheesiness. The temple drums and synthesized gothic choir of "Invocation" make it sound like a Playstation intro movie and there's little explanation for why the rest of the album spends its time ripping off Rank 1, Angelic, and the toytown trance of the Vengaboys.
